Tea, a birthday and the Summer Palace

The Forbidden City is spectacular and massive. It’s also not forbidden anymore to tourists, and there’s a lot of them.

Moving on, we stopped at a Tea House to taste various teas and discover how we’ve been making lousy tea all this time. For the Chinese, the water doesn’t have to be boiling and they would never dream of using teabags. Milk is something weird that foreigners do to their tea!One of our group had a birthday so we made her an Imperial Princess for the day
Finally, on to the Summer Palace which has this amazing lake and water lilies

Tomorrow, the Great Wall. Early start so time for bed. Goodnight John Boy!
