Come & Watch Me at ‘Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show’

The annual ‘Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show’ runs at Olympia, London from 30th Jan 2020 to Feb 2nd 2020 and this year two of my Tour Operators (Great Rail Journeys & Rail Discoveries) will be present on stand E72 at the show. This is a great opportunity for future (and existing) clients to talk to both staff and Freelance Tour Managers and get some inspiration and advice about the holidays that are available.

Tickets are free if you use this link and enter the Coupon Code displayed, or they are £11 on the door.

I’ve been asked to make a presentation on the ‘Meet the Expert Stage’ at 14:45 on Thursday 30th January. I’ll be speaking for about half an hour on the subject of ‘USA: Top 10 Ultimate Rail Journeys‘. I’m not entirely certain of the precise content yet, but I’ve been promised all kinds of things… Visual Aids, Powerpoints, Handouts, Notes, a singing Moose … (Actually not the moose, but I can’t help but feel that this would help if it could be arranged – over to you GRJ) so there is a chance that I won’t make a complete fool of myself. It’s flattering to be asked to present on a stage called ‘Meet The Experts’ but it implies a rather high bar being set since other presenters (for other, lesser, companies) will include Claire Sweeney, Sir Chris Bonnigton, Benedict Allen, TV Chef, John Torode and Julie Peasgood – all of whom may or may not be experts but are certainly professional public speakers. However what they don’t have is experience of taking groups of people around the USA, so I figure that’s my edge and I’m going to work it.

This is the kind of thing that I’ll be talking about. I haven’t yet been allocated a USA Tour for this year, but I’m hoping that if I scratch their backs on this, they’ll scratch mine. I guess we’ll see… 😀
