Yesterday we visited the Blue Mountains, overlooking Sydney. They’re blue because the sun heats the Eucalyptus oil on the leaves and vaporises it. When we arrived, the weather was very bad with strong winds and heavy rain.

The weather was forecast to improve, so while waiting we took lunch. There was really only one choice… Kangaroo Pie! It was rather good.

The forecast was right (for once) and so, in the sunshine, we headed off to Scenic World. Here you descend to the valley floor on the Scenic Railway, the steepest passenger railway in the world at 52 degrees.

Once in the valley we walked through the rainforest on a boardwalk.

We returned to the top on a cable car

Tomorrow is our last full day. We’re off to Bondi Beach
