TimOnTheTrain Is Getting Repairs And Maintenance

TimOnTheTrain is getting his pistons and valves re-bored, new bearings and boiler repairs. I’m often asked by clients about where I choose to go on vacation? The answer is, pretty much anywhere that takes my fancy at the time (preferably somewhere with a hammock).

It has been six years since Mrs TimOnTheTrain has been on vacation. COVID and then afterwards I had to work as much as possible to try and make back the money that I lost during lockdown (it was a lot – Tourism got hammered, remember?). Mrs TimOnTheTrain let me know, discreetly (in that special way that wives have) that she required a bit of an airing… a bit of glamour…. a bit of being spoiled… and that declining was not an acceptable option. A certain, shall we say…Frost? descended on Casa TimOnTheTrain for a few days. And so, at last, here we are; I’ve spent a lot of money (a lot) on this one, but then, I haven’t spent anything at all for six years, so I can’t really argue against it. We shall return in the middle of a British Winter and I may have to burn some furniture to keep warm. My son and his family are house-sitting while we are away, so hopefully the place will stay clean and tidy. Hopefully.

I’ve long wanted to take her to the Far East, but I need to be careful. Some of that area can be a bit intimidating for a first visit. So I’ve decided on Singapore and then the Malaysian island of Langkawi. I’ve found some swanky hotels. It’s going to be a bit rainy, but in between showers, the sun comes out (probably) and anyway, the shopping is good (gulp!).

I’ll post some pics if I can while away, or if not, when we get back. Depends how I feel, after all… I’m not at work on this one 😁
