So, back on the rails today, with steam, in Colorado – God’s Country.
We rode the The Georgetown Loop Railroad, a 3 ft narrow gauge running between Georgetown at Devil’s Gate and the depot at Silver Plume, a distance of 2 miles as the crow flies, but… we’re not crows and there is a steep valley gradient in the way. The actual line is 4.5 miles long and and climbs steeply 640 feet through mountainous terrain along with trestles, cuts, fills, and a grand loop.
I knocked out a video of the trestle crossing. No drone shots today. Colorado isn’t that friendly for drones, in that we are usually at 7,000ft or today at 10,000 and my poor little baby drone struggles to fly in the thin air.
While we were there, we stopped at the Lebanon Gold Mine to explore the mine and learn how to pan for Gold with our mildly crazy and hirsute guide Jimbo, as you do…

… and after stopping for a brief beer at one of Colorado’s many microbreweries I took my clients to the Western clothing store to see if they’d be interested in boots or hats, because, you know, that’s what they do here. I bought a pair of jeans. Wranglers, regular fit, boot cut – $32 with tax and I figure that’s pretty good. Mrs TimOnTheTrain will hate them. For some weird reason she says I look better in skinny jeans. I don’t. So I’ll just hve to wear these when she’s not around, like for instance, on tour.

Leadville Railroad tomorrow – see you there!
