2025 is drawing to a close and TimOnTheTrain has been shunted back into the shed for a rest and refit. Four weeks without working is a welcome break and chance to get fully lubricated, have my worn bearings replaced and my firebox de-coked. It’s been a busy year.
Next year is filling up nicely, although I’m dialling things back a little bit. I’m getting older every year, and even with a hard working fireman and premium coal, I’m struggling to climb some of the steeper mountain gradients. In 2026, I’m aiming for quality more than quantity when accepting Tours.
To all who have travelled with me this year, and all those in all the office and support teams who have helped to make it all work successfully, my sincere thanks and best wishes. See you out on the tracks soon.

As I get older I find it’s not just the steeper gradients that get me but also the longer recovery time 😁
